Age of Conan is a much barbaric game, where a lot of things can remind you about the Viking age. You play in a raw tough world called Hyboria. A place that is filled with weak beings, strange cults and unworthy leaders. Some believe in Set, some believe in Mitra and some Believe in Crom. We believe only in one thing; What we can loot from your corpse.
That is why we, the vikings of Northern Alliance will pick up our helmets, take on our chain boxers and jump aboard our longboat to crusade our religion and maraud your belongings all over Hyboria! We are Heathen to some, heroes to others!
He is to Northern Alliance what Chuck Norris is to the world, what David Hasslehoff is to Baywatch, what Mcgyver is to the Phoenix Corporation, what Jack Bauer is to high tech anti-terror protocol stuff and what owls are to o’rlys!
Delegates tasks.
• Omi is by the Viking lore another name for the Aesir/Æsir Odin, the highest God in the Norse mythology. Omi has the English translation of meaning “Shouter”.
Aesir's or Vanir's (officer by the old term) in Northern Alliance are members of the guild who has specific leading or organization tasks in the guild. These are given the rank Aesir (good) or Vanir (evil), dependant on class, in game choices and personality! Officers chose this themselves. Once you have been given either the Aesir rank or Vanir rank you keep that true your time in the guild.
• In Old Norse, the Æsir are the principal gods of the pantheon of Norse mythology, also considered the fair and ”good God’s”. A second clan of gods, the Vanir, is the Æsir’s counterpart, the “evil God’s” many say.
• Simplified for English keyboards I chose to spell Æsir as “Aesir” instead.
When you have been ranked Viking (Marauder) for a long period and have shown an outstanding attitude, skill, dedication and is considered a trusted member. You may be a subject for a higher rank. This rank is “Berserker” or “Valkyrie” dependent on your character’s gender. This rank is only given to people who play the game on a highly active basis.
• “Berserkers (or Berserks) were Norse warriors who fought in an uncontrollable rage or trance of fury, the berserkergang.”
• ”In Norse mythology the valkyries are dísir, minor female deities, who served Odin. The valkyries' purpose was to choose the most heroic of those who had died in battle and to carry them off to Valhalla where they became einherjar.”
The Viking Marauder rank is a short step up from Viking, it is given to members that is actively taking part of raids (pvp and pve), thereby the "Marauder" part.
• Maraud: "to go on search for things to steal or damage."
The second rank of the guild. You have made you worthy of the rank “Viking”, and are considered a fierce fighter. This rank is only given to people who play the game on a regular basis and is considered a true member of the guild.
When you join the guild you start off ranked "Herra" or "Fru” dependent on your character’s gender. This rank indicates that you have not yet proved yourself to the guild and are only considered a simple man or woman. May also be given to members that is not active enough for the member rank, but still not considered inactive.
This rank is given to anyone who has shown great dedication to the guild but sadly has died of the spirit of going inactive.
• ”In Norse religion the einherjar or einheriar were spirits of warriors who had died bravely in battle.”
• ”After they die, the valkyries escort half of the slain from the battlefield to Valhalla (these are the einherjar), which is part of Asgard (commonly described as the Norse Heaven); the other half went to Fólkvangr (Freyja's hall).”
An affiliate of Northern Alliance is a member who joined with the sole purpose to play with his friend(s) that are inside the guild: An affiliate is not demanded to take part of guild activities, neither is he allowed guild benefits such as raid priority, gear or other bank materials. He is merely a person on the sideline, but yet welcome to socialize and play with the guild when he is needed.
if you got an friend that want to apply as an affiliate, he can write a regular application and tag it *affiliate*, the reason he has to do this is in case he want to step up to become a regular member. However, to become a regular member after joining as an affiliate will be a hard process, as no-one should apply as an affiliate with the thought of going for a regular membership later on, this is only an option in case the affiliates life situation change and want become a regular member permanently. Members that just joined the guild are not allowed to ask for their friends to join as an affiliate.
